goodbye

On March 11, 2022, I will have been blogging for 5,110 days. However, the time has come for me to bid goodbye and put this blog to rest. There is no single thing that’s making me hang up my er, quill and ink. Mostly, I’m just  totally exhausted but, I’m also disillusioned;  not a good combination in the head space.
I will keep blogging to the very end (March 11).  Please note that I am not/not soliciting contributions for another year of blogging.  The last blog post will be on March 11, 2022. The Twitter handle @Diplopundit will also retire on March 11, 2022.

Dear Readers,
This blog first went live on March 11, 2008 with a blog post in Blogger (see Health Insurance Proposal – Contact Your Representatives). The blog moved from Blogger to WordPress after seven years, and now it feels like we’ve always been here.
I was bored out of my wits before I stumbled into blogging. Since then, it has been an extraordinary 14-year journey for a gal with a desktop. And not a single boring day to note.

Will I feel differently after some time and distance? I don’t know; I can’t make promises, so I’m taking a very long walk. I don’t know what will come next. I don’t have a back-up plan, or a golden parachute (oh, drat!). Maybe I’ll volunteer to go to Mars, hey?
I will keep blogging to the very end (March 11).  Please note that I am not/not soliciting contributions for another year of blogging.  The last blog post will be on March 11, 2022. The Twitter handle @Diplopundit will also retire on March 11, 2022.  I have previously posted an announcement on GFM to notify and thank the friends of the blog. I had to settle for that means of notification because GFM does not share its email list. The GFM page will also shut down on March 11, 2022.
At this time, the plan is to keep the blog online for the next 6-12 months while I decide what to do with the archives containing over 7,500+ blog posts. There will be no updates after March 11, 2022.
It has been my great honor to bring attention to the goings on at State, the good, the bad and the ugly; to tell the stories that need telling, and to poke fun at stuff occasionally. I must confess that the last 4-5 years really ruined my funny bones!
So, I want to say thank you all!  Thank you readers for tagging along. Thank you friends of the blog for making the last seven years possible. And thank you to the denizens of the “worldwide available universe” for letting me share your stories. This would have been an utterly lonely journey without your company the last 14 years. Be good to yourself and your tribe.  And don’t forget to tell your loved ones you love them. Life is short. — DS 😭
