Ambassador Marciel will succeed Ambassador Derek J. Mitchell who was confirmed as the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of the Union of Burma on June 29, 2012. We understand that Ambassador Mitchell is expected to depart Rangoon in mid-March after three and a half years at post.
