Ambassador Kenney was nominated on July 19, 2010 by President Barack Obama to be the US Ambassador to the Royal Kingdom of Thailand. She was confirmed by the United States Senate on September 29, 2010. She assumed charge of the US Embassy in Bangkok in January 2011. When she depart post next month, she’ll be a couple months short of a four year tour.

Anyway, wanted to invite you to a BBQ that my wife and I are holding on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 26, at our home in Rappahannock County. Would love to meet you. We’re up on a mountain about ten minutes from Little Washington, if you know the area — with a nice view of the Skyline Drive. Figure the leaves ought to be near peak by that weekend. There might be some people from State or one of the agencies here, though; not sure if I’m the only one in Washington who doesn’t know you! But love your writings. Only yesterday and today I finally published a little slice of the African issues I asked you about a couple months back. My initial concerns (which weren’t well-expressed at the time, anyway) didn’t end up playing a part in the ongoing WTO issues.
