Along with: Career diplomat forces staff to have sex with him and gets slap on the wrist but keeps job and pension; married EFMs use Embassy office to hook up; and senior FSO torched by OIG but gets immediate promotion. The OIG can’t and won’t save us. They stress, the Bureaus, not the OIG, should be the “bad leadership police.” The State Dept doesn’t care about you, your family, or your career. The sooner you realize this the better. The good news is you’ve got to be incredibly unlucky to not/not get tenure. Enjoy the ride.”

It’s true. When I have reported problems to OIG, the office does nothing but forward those reports to the relevant bureau (which of course takes no action). OIG rarely conducts investigations. It’s a lame, impotent office staffed mostly by people who don’t care. Someone should inspect the OIG.
